Goal-Focused Therapeutic Massage by Allisa Gay.
What is ‘Goal-Focused Therapeutic Massage’?
Goal-Focused is how I describe my approach to massage. Before each massage session I will spend time with you to review your current health (how you feel, your stress levels, physical activity) and what you would like to achieve from the session. Goals may include relief from chronic pain, stress reduction or recovery from an intense ILoveKickboxing™ workout (What you talkin’ bout Pittsburgh?). Based on your goal, I will use my extensive knowledge of anatomy and comprehensive massage training to create a truly unique massage.
How is this different than other massages?
Rather than treating just the symptoms, I find the source of the problem. There is a massage saying, “Where the pain is, the problem isn’t.” How true this is. For instance, pain in your thumb from over-use of hand-held electronic devices could be coming from your shoulder blade. Sure, massaging your thumb would alleviate the pain, but only for a short time.
It is my goal to help you attain and maintain good health through therapeutic massage. I accomplish this by using many massage techniques. These include: Neuromuscular (Trigger-Point) Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Sports Massage, Aromatherapy and Reflexology.
I am also proud to say that I am trained in working with clients during all phases of cancer treatment. In-home appointments are available. Please contact me to discuss how massage can enhance your quality of life and promote your healing process.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on session length (hands-on time). There is no charge for the pre-session interview. However, if you arrive late it may be necessary to abbreviate your session time (although you will be charged for the full session).
60 minutes of hands-on work – $60
75 minutes of hands-on work – $75
90 minutes of hands-on work – $90
Are you pregnant?
I am certified in pregnancy massage and am happy to work on the mom-to-be after her 1st trimester and with a doctor’s consent. Please let us know of your pregnancy when booking your massage.
